Anke Hannemann (*1980 GDR) is a mixed media artist mainly working in public space, being

interested in the linkage between architectural deconstruction, memory and the reconstruction

of personal and collective identity as a result of major political and social changes. 

She studied English Literature and Art History at Technical University Dresden, Fine Art at

Bauhaus-Universität Weimar, Sound and Performance Art at The School of the Art Institute of Chicago

and was trained in the restoration of mural paintings and leaf gilding. She is currently completing her artistic

Ph.D. on the topic „This home was my castle – On the trauma of architectural deconstruction

(after the end of the GDR)“. She also works as a freelance curator, lecturer and teaches in the

international MFA-program "Public Art and New Artistic Strategies" at Bauhaus-Universität Weimar.
